Tammy Turnage is a recording artist, actress, vocalist, pianist, organist and writer. She enjoys writing from life’s experiences. She is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance. While there, she performed in many concerts as well as presenting two Solo Piano Recitals. Her first CD “Classical Praise” featured piano solos, her Christmas CD “Christmas Blessings” featured daughter, Kristen on flute, and was released for Christmas this past year, and Tammy’s new CD, “Relaxing Classics” is due to be released this fall.
Formerly the Pianist for the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, Tammy was also the featured Organist in performing Camille Saint Saens “Symphony No. 5 – Organ Symphony” in their Spring Concert Series. She enjoys playing the Organ, Piano and Singing for many weddings, funerals, and community programs along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Tammy has performed lead roles in may local community theatre productions including playing the role of Patsy Cline in “Always, Patsy Cline” a total of twenty-one times, as well as lead roles in “Oklahoma”, “Showboat”, “The King and I”, and in her early years she performed in “The Sound of Music”, ‘The Music Man”, “Gypsy”, and “South Pacific”. Tammy was selected to be one of four featured artist this year for the Coast Community Concert Association’s 2015-2016 Season and will be in performing in concert at the Saenger Theater this March.
Her recent love of writing has included articles in WHOA Magazine, Gulf Coast Woman Magazine, writing her own blog, and writing inspirational Twitter posts. Tammy has spoken at Women’s Conferences and Bible Studies. She is presently working on two devotional books. Tammy is currently the Organist at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport, MS. She loves living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and has been married to her best friend, Kendall, for over 29 years. They have two beautiful daughters, Maria and Kristen, a wonderful son in law, Brian, and a beautiful baby granddaughter, Summerlyn Rose.
